Communication is a two-way street

My science communication approach is based on hearing the needs of the local community and embedding outreach and communication throughout my research process. Importantly, if I expect others to be open to new ideas, I must also be open to new ideas, new ways of understanding, and new worldviews.

I aim to build trust and maintain relationships with researchers, managers, and landowners.

As I develop new outreach and communication initiatives, I strive to keep integrating new perspectives and adopt new technologies in science communication. 

At the 2019 Ecological Society of America conference, I organized a session on improving community engagement intitiaves:

While I have no dance background, I recently worked with a local MFA in modern dance to communicate my science through dance. I submitted the video to the Science Magazine's 2019-20 Dance your PhD competition:
