Hi! My name is Nicole, and I'm interested in the connection between water and people.

I am driven by using science to inform environmental decision-making. I love working with on water management because water issues are fundamentally about the people: what is important to people, what vision people have for today and tomorrow, what values and concerns motivate people.

I have over ten years of experience collaborating with natural and social scientists and in partnerships between state agencies, academic institutions, non-profits, and private landowners. I have worked on state management of native mussels in streams and rivers in the Midwest, agricultural land management and hillslope hydrology in the Pacific Northwest, ecosystem science on lakes and reservoirs in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and climate resilience issues on Laurentian Great Lakes coasts.

My primary goal is to inform environmental decision-making within

complex and ever-changing societal needs. Ultimately, I strive to contribute to a more mutually beneficial relationship between water and people: where society and freshwater ecosystems thrive together.
